Training has officially begun

A bunch of us from church are going to run a half marathon in October. 5 of them ran it last year and know what the trail is all about. I run at the park where it's held every day. so I think I should be okay. I got a workout plan from Runner's World that was at Peggy & Ray's last weekend. It seems pretty good and I should be able to get myself moving. I'm pretty motivated at the moment. We'll see how it goes next week or maybe the week after. yeah. that's when it will be interesting. I had to run 35 minutes yesterday at a moderate pace, which is faster than conversational. The workout has target heart rates, but I'm not real into that. Partly because I've been an athlete my entire life and never worried about how fast my heart was beating. eh, I might give it a try some day. I was determined to run the entire 35 minutes. I think it went pretty well. I didn't pass out and I was seriously huffing and puffin'. There was no way I was talking to anyone on that run. I measured how far I went, we'll see if it improves as I go. Today was a cross training day. I took the bike out and road for 35 minutes. I hate the bike. I was going to get a new one today, but got distracted by other things and didn't get it purchased. I have a week. But if I'm going to do this thing, I need a better bike. The one that I am using is my father in laws and it's a trail bike and it's slow. slow as molasses in January. not fun to ride. and it makes my butt hurt. I work on Wed & Friday, so although the schedule says to run on those days, I think I'll be cross training on them. I'm on my feet for at least 6 hours, while working. I don't think I could do running after that. I think the pool or the bike will be just fine. I hope. I'll try to do better on the blog, now that I have a goal and I plan on running in October, barring any major catastrophes. but it's not like anyone reads this thing. ha!
